Panji Indra Permana is a commercial and editorial photographer based in Indonesia, working professionally since 2003. His practice is grounded in visual storytelling, with a strong focus on portraiture and fashion-led imagery.
Over the past two decades, Panji has collaborated with individuals, publications, and international brands to create photographs that feel both intimate and carefully crafted. His work balances visual elegance with emotional depth, capturing not only how people look, but who they are.
At the core of Panji’s approach is a belief that photography is about connection. Whether working on a fashion editorial, a commissioned portrait, or a personal project, he prioritizes trust, presence, and authenticity—allowing genuine moments to emerge in front of the camera.
One of his most significant ongoing projects is The Cyclist Portrait, a long-term documentary series begun in 2020. Through extended bicycle journeys across Java Island, Panji photographs everyday workers and local communities who rely on bicycles as part of their daily lives. The project is both a visual archive and a social narrative, exploring resilience, dignity, and the poetry of ordinary lives.
In 2023, Panji was awarded Hasselblad Master, an international recognition of excellence in photography, honoring his commitment to thoughtful, story-driven imagery.
Today, Panji continues to work across Indonesia and abroad, producing editorial, fashion, and commercial photography for clients while expanding his long-term documentary work.
